Caio Lara, a Brazilian native from Sao Paulo, was born on December 19th, 1990. He began his career in Kart Racing in 2004. During his first year in the junior category, at the age of 13, Caio won third place in the Campeonato Schincariol de Kart [Schincariol Karting Championship], held in ITÚ in the state of Sao Paulo, where he was nominated the best new driver of the year.
Between 2005 and 2006, Caio Lara participated in the Juniors and Seniors B categories, with the experienced team MAURO COMPETIÇOES, run by the drivers' coach "Maurao". At that time, he competed in the Campeonatos Paulista e Paulista Light [Sao Paulo and Sao Paulo Light Championships], Brasileiro [Brazilian Championship] and Copa Brasil de Kart [Karting Brazilian Cup]. He placed in the podium in almost every round he participated in and became Sao Paulo's Karting Vice-Champion by the end of 2006.
In 2007 Caio Lara took on another challenge. At the legal age (16 years old) to drive open wheel race cars, he was transferred to the category "Sao Paulo Formula," better known as FORD Formula, where he was a driver for the experienced ALPIE RACING team, which was run by the brothers Aldo and Emerson Piedade.
In an amazing way Caio Lara has surprised everyone. In his first race he won second place.
Throughout the 2007 season, Caio Lara stood out as the best debut driver in the category, winning a spot in the podium in all 10 rounds. He even received a victory and had the best time in one lap, setting a new record in Sao Paulo Formula: best debut driver and most consecutive podiums won in a single season.
Continuing this performance, Caio Lara held on to the chance to become the Champion of the tournament up until his last race, staying in second place throughout the year.
In the last round of Sao Paulo Formula, Caio Lara had problems with his equipment and his car performed badly. Because of that, Caio finished his first year in 3rd place for the open wheel race cars category.
In 2008 the racecar driver placed a bet on the success of his new career and headed to the US to compete in the STAR MADZA SERIES racing for the MUNDILL team. In his debut year Lara had an excellent record, being among the top 10 six times as well as being twice in the top 5 in the last two races of the season.
In 2009 Lara switched to the champion JDC MotorSports which is run by the experienced crew leader John Church.
Caio Lara further solidified his success as ‘Rookie’ when finishing as one the top 10 in 11 out of 13 races as well as one of the top 5 four times, winning 8th place in the fight for the championship. As in 2009, Lara will take part in an effort from JDC MotorSports, using multiple cars with talented drivers in the 13 race championship from Star Madza. With constant support from the entire crew, Lara will be chosen once again to drive car number 19 from JDC MotorSports not only with the goal of winning the races but also the championship. The Brazilian was a consistent front-runner in his second complete season in the series of competitions from last year, being one of the drivers who raced in search of the title until the final stages of the season.
